5 Easy Tips to Follow for a Healthier 2018 and Beyond

It is a certainty that most of us have as our New Year’s resolution the goal to live a healthier lifestyle.  While almost 70% of New Year’s resolutions fail, a "healthier you goal" should not be something that is taken for granted.  We should always make an effort to be healthy at all times!

Below are some simple and easy to follow tips on how to be better and healthier this 2018.

1. Practise Healthy Eating Habits

If you want to lose weight or simply stay healthy, follow these eating habits:
  • Say no when you are already full.
  • Be seated during meals.
  • Don’t multi-task while eating.
  • Taste and savor every spoonful of your food.
  • Don’t serve your food on an XL plate.
2. Substitute Sugary Drinks For Water

Sugar is one of the major causes of obesity. We get most of the sugar from sugary drinks that we consume every day such as pop. These drinks do not have any nutritional value, plus they are high in calories and cause diabetes, obesity, weakened bones and tooth decay. Consuming sodas can also affect your taste buds; they can make you feel hungrier as the artificial sweeteners signal your brain to crave more food.

If you want to lose some extra pounds, eliminate or totally cut off sugary drinks. Replace them with water instead. Water has been proven to have a lot of health benefits so every time you feel the urge to have a can of soda, grab a bottle of water instead.

3. Fit Exercise Into Your Schedule

You can’t have a healthy body if you do not have some form of regular exercise. Having regular exercise has a lot of health benefits so always make sure that you find time to sweat out. No matter how busy your day is, squeeze in at least 15 minutes of full body exercise. Not only will it help you achieve the body that you want, it would also give you the energy that you need for the day. There are 15-20 minutes total body workout routines that you can do and get the maximum result. Exercise on a rowing machine is a perfect example.

4. Sleep 6-7 Hours A Day

When you are not getting enough sleep, your body is affected in so many ways. Aside from the fact that you won’t have the energy to accomplish a lot of things, not having enough sleep slows down your metabolism. Get at east 6 hours of quality sleep every day. Optimally you should strive for between 7 to 8 hours of sleep per day.

5. Do Things That You Love More Often

Happy people are those who continue doing what they love on a regular basis. When you are constantly doing the things that you love, it gives you a sense of fulfillment and purpose. If you love flowers, put plenty of them on your desk so that you will just have to look at them and smell them every time you are stressed. Do this more often and this will easily turn your day around.

It’s not too late to start on your New Year’s resolution yet. Work hard to be a healthier you by following the suggested tips above.
